Egg Donation Process
Once all of the screenings are passed, you begin the process of the donor cycle. During the cycle, you’ll undergo regular screenings. This is to ensure that your cycle is progressing as it should be. You’ll be given fertility medication in order to stimulate your ovaries to produce a multiple eggs. The medication will need to be injected daily and you’ll be given precise instructions on how and when to administer it.
Once the monitoring indicates that the eggs are mature, you’ll be given a medication that allows ovulation to be timed. This process allows doctors to retrieve the eggs just before ovulation. Retrieval is done under the use of a general anesthetic in a procedure that takes less than a half hour. Recovery time in the office is a few hours, then you are sent home to rest. A follow up appointment is done two weeks after the retrieval to ensure your body is recovering.
