New York’s Infertility Mandate

It is estimated that half of New Yorkers with health insurance now qualify for fertility treatment coverage under the New York Infertility Mandate. While the New York Infertility Mandate certainly takes coverage a step further for millions of individuals, it’s still important to understand the basic benefits of your plan.

Many large-group insurance plans do offer some degree of infertility coverage. This may be limited to a certain number of cycles, or a lifetime cap on total treatment costs. At New Hope Fertility, we work closely with our patients to determine what insurance companies cover IVF and what the benefits of their individual plans are. Keep in mind that if you are self-insured your plan is governed by federal – not state – law, so the mandate does not apply.

We are ready to help see if you are eligible to take advantage of New York’s 2020 fertility insurance mandate. As a New Yorker, you may now have insurance coverage for the cost of IVF and fertility preservation. Ask your HR staff if your employer is fully- or self-insured. If self-insured, your employer can elect to cover IVF and fertility preservation. You may also be able to purchase a rider covering medication costs and other expenses.

New Hope Fertility accepts Major Health Insurance in the U.S. Our in-house financial and insurance counselors will help you predetermine your coverage.
