4 Reasons You May Want To Consider Mini IVF Treatment

In vitro fertilization has been used for decades to help couples having trouble while trying to conceive.  IVF has evolved since its inception, with many treatment protocols available to address a number of needs. Minimal Stimulation (Mini-IVF) provides a more holistic treatment option, while maintaining the high pregnancy success rates received via Conventional IVF protocols.

Mini IVF Explained

Mini IVF takes a more holistic approach to traditional IVF protocols. Rather than using large amounts of fertility medication to stimulated a woman's ovulation, Mini IVF protocols limit the amount of medication used. With Mini IVF, a woman’s body is gently stimulated to produce a small number of high quality eggs. Medication is limited to oral fertility drugs and no more than three injections of fertility medication. The resulting eggs are retrieved surgicall, fertilized with sperm in a laboratory setting - in vitro - and monitored for quality. The healthiest embryo is then transferred to the woman's uterus for implantation. Surplus embryos may be cryoperserved and stored for use in a future Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET).

Reasons to Consider a Mini IVFmini ivf

Mini IVF treatment provides a number of benefits, including:

  • Comfort – Due to the reduced amount of fertility medication, there are fewer side effects during the cycle. Less physical discomfort results in reduced stress during the cycle.
  • Egg Quality – The focus on Mini IVF is on the quality rather than the quantity of eggs retrieved. This approach helps to prevent harvesting a large number of eggs that are not suited for fertilization.
  • Cycle Success – The success rate for Mini IVF rivals that of traditional IVF care.
  • Treatment Options – Because the focus is on quality versus quantity, Mini IVF provides treatment options to women who may otherwise have been unable to pursue IVF as a treatment option for their fertility concerns.
